Vine Street Hill Cemetery is a nonprofit; nonsectarian and is located just 5 miles from downtown Cincinnati proper. Dedicated in 1849 and the first burial was in 1852. The original purchase is located in the center of the cemetery. With the addition of adjoining land to the south was purchased. Anchoring this side of the Cemetery is the administration building which was built in the 1930s. Cemetery offices and was the superintendent's residence until as recently as the late 1980's. In the 1940’s the north adjoining land was purchased. In the 50’s and 60’s this was the highest area within Cincinnati. During this time Cincinnati’s first traffic helicopter’s morning and evening rush hour traffic reports were made. There is a dedicated road and inscribed monument stating Mehring Way. The cemetery's 'Kappell', (the German spelling), this was accomplished by one of our family’s hard work, dedication and investigating the history of the original Chapel in our cemetery, the City of Cincinnati, the State of Ohio, and the National Register recognized the “'Kappell' as a Historic Site in 2007. Our plans are to restore the “Chappell” back to servicing our families once again. Families taking interest in the cemetery only makes our employees work harder for you.
