Clean Sweep of Decorations
The cemetery staff will be removing all gravesite floral and decorations, for our “summer sweep”, Between Monday July 7th and Saturday July 12th. Any items that a family wants to keep, must be removed prior to the 7th. On Monday July 14th, floral may again be placed at the grave of your loved one. Please be respectful of the Cemetery’s Decoration Policy for the safety of our families, staff and wildlife.

US Bank’s salute to Veteran’s Hill
This Memorial Day weekend we were once again blessed by the kindness of the US Bank volunteers that placed American flags on the graves of veterans here at the cemetery. Coming in through the Mitchell Avenue gate, the hillside to your right was dedicated in 1990, for the interment of just Veterans and their spouses. We are honored to be able to provide a space to showcase our support of these individuals’ commitment to their country. In total the Vine Street Hill Cemetery has over 4,200 veterans laid to rest, representing conflicts from The Mexican American War through the War on Terror. We salute the sacrifice of Veterans who have served in military conflicts as well as those who voluntarily served during peace times.

Thank You to Roger Bacon Highschool
A heartfelt “thank you” goes out to the students and staff of Roger Bacon Highschool in St Bernard! The Vine Street Hill Cemetery was thrilled to host over 45 individuals that were participating in their school wide community service day. We set them to work filling in holes, placing seed and straw on bare spots, spraying Wet and Forget on monuments, weeding, and picking up sticks. With 113 working acres, we were delighted to have the help. It is also wonderful to see the youth eager to help and give back in the communities that surround them.

If you are the owner of a lot, crypt, niche or burial space within the Vine Street Hill Cemetery, you are a member of the Vine Street Hill Cemetery Association. You are invited to this meeting to meet the members of the Board of Directors as well as to hear about the plans for the remainder of the year. WAA Wreath Laying Ceremony
Join us on our Veteran’s Hill for the dedication ceremony and laying of the wreaths. This is open to the public and starts promptly at noon. There will be guest speakers sharing their experiences from the military with the wreath laying ceremony starting at 1:00PM.

Wreaths Across America
The Vine Street Hill Cemetery is proud to be participating, for our first year, in Wreaths Across America. This national program recognizes the sacrifices of the men and women of the military. Your $17.00 sponsorship will ensure a wreath is placed on the grave of a Veteran at the Vine Street Hill Cemetery on December 14th. Vigil of Remembrance
On this Saturday we invite you to remember your loved ones with us. Starting at 11:00AM, the Chapel of Peace mausoleum will be open to anyone wishing to light a tealight for friends and family members. You may fill out a memorial card to place with your tealight. Dr Keith O. Allen will be available and offering words of comfort. A closing prayer will be offered at noon, with the close of the vigil at 1:00PM.
